Examinations Officer
 

Salary information: Scale SO2 NJC27 (£30,497.41 per annum)

Life Skills Department is one of the best in the School and the Borough of Hillingdon. We continuously get a 100% pass rate for both Key stage 4 and 5 annually. This attributes to the quality of teaching and learning that the students receive. Our students are exposed to Cultural Capital, we do trips and work experience for key stage 5.  Our Quality assurance is first class, we do rigorous assessment, marking and feedback which put our students in the top 10% of the country. BTEC Standard Verifiers gives us exemplary reports year on. In Life Skills we network with other schools and offer support to other Teachers to assist them in understanding the marking criteria of the courses and specialist services through coaching.

99% of our Key Stage 5 students leave and go on to Universities our retention rate for key stage 5 is very good as most of the students who study either Child Development or Health and Social Care in KS4 will choose it in KS5.

The Science Department is a strong, collaborative and supportive team. All teachers teach all three sciences at KS3 and mainly teach their specialism at KS4 and 5. The department achieves outstanding results at KS4 and 5 and we offer all suitably qualified teachers the chance to teach 6th form where appropriate. We have introduced a medical science course at KS5 to compliment the 3 main A-Levels which is very popular. The team is served by three experienced technicians and the resourcing of experiments and books is excellent. There is a track record in the department of successful induction of new teachers and all new teachers have their own teaching lab. Many of the department have been promoted to further responsibility within a few years of joining.

The Creative Design department is a thriving area of the school where students engage with a wide range of creative subjects and activities, including art, photography, hospitality and design technology.  The current DT curriculum is taught at KS3 and includes aspects of resistant materials and textiles.  However, there is an ambition to teach DT to KS4 under the AQA syllabus to bring DT in line with the other subjects on offer, where progress 8 scores have increased year upon year and contribute positively to the overall success of the school.  The department currently has a large woodwork studio with equipment suitable to the delivery of resistant materials and textiles, a large wood store/technical support workshop with a full time technician.  Specialised equipment includes a laser cutter and 3D printer.  The successful candidate could look forward to making this department their own, engaging with a larger team of four teachers, a head of department and three well-qualified technicians as well as a supportive line management structure.
