Barnhill Performing Arts Brilliantly!

Students show cased their talent through dance and drama in spectacular fashion

Huge well done to the Performing Arts department for a wonderful evening of entertainment on 18th July.  Students expressed themselves through their own choreography and original drama showing creativity, skill, teamwork and clear aspiration.

Performers were a credit to Barnhill and should be very proud of themselves.

Chorus Line (Y10) dance based on hopes and fear of many performers going through the audition process to make it in show business.

In+Somnus (Y11) dance based on the detrimental effects of insomnia.

In Waiting (Y11) based on the idea of a hospital waiting room and the variety of emotions expressed by people receiving good and bad news.

Divide (Y11) based on the highs and lows of living in shared space where the table represents the space.

The Facade (Y11)inspired by the idea of people having two sides - one fake and one real

DNA Extinction (Y11) focuses on global warming and the effect on penguins as their habitat is threatened.

Requiem for Oneiric (Y11) explores a variety of dream themes including sadness, fear, happiness and confusion.

Longing for You (Y11) dance based on the idea of brief encounters - when people meet at the wrong time or place and don't have enough time to spend together.

Lost Heroes (Y11) based on effects on man of conflict and the tragedy of war resulting in mental illness.

Choreographed by Joanna and performed by Keyon, Mya, Erin & Salina

Truth & Lies (Y11) This was the final GCSE examination piece examining social class, media and justice where the performers took on multiple roles to illustrate a story from different angles.

Thanks to the comperes from our sixth form, Ushpinderdeep and Gurnoor and to Jackie from Y10, taking a role behind the scenes instead of on the stage as our sound technician. 

The evening was full of drama and energy and massive thanks to the curriculum leaders who made it all happen, Mr Pilkington and Miss Bhandari.
