Food Tech Team - Masterclass Sessions

Practically Career Inspiring

Mrs Arjoon, Food Technology teacher, arranged for our Hospitality and Catering students to have a visit from Bartlett Mitchell, catering company.  Students were treated to cakes made by the visiting chefs and they participated in a lively discussion about career possibilities and challenges within the industry.

The visit was very successful and the start of a partnership with Bartlett Mitchell with plans for us to host more events to enrich the curriculum and highlight career opportunities for our students further.

Thank you to the Bartlett Mitchell personnel:

Murray Soper – Talent & Team Manager.  Murray started in the catering industry as a butler in a private bank, and then worked up through the ranks through various operational and management roles before going into recruitment and HR

Daryll Young – Head of BM Chef Development Team

Kevin Macey – Group Executive Chef for the Microsoft group

Agata Mamrocha – Recruitment Manager

Dorrianne Casey –Learning &Development / Coaching expert

Within the department, Miss Luke, is currently delivering Jamie Oliver style classes to Year 9's who demonstrated impressive skill to produce fresh pasta and a bolognaise sauce.  In another session, they made swiss rolls not far short of a masterclass standard.

The waft of cooking along the food tech corridor is mouth-watering indeed and it's fantastic to see the students immersed in the subject and producing some great results.
