Deep Learning Day 2021

On the 8th of December, Barnhill students and staff took part in a wider range of activities in school and educational trips across all year groups as part of an off-timetable Deep Learning Day.

Police officers spoke about a range of topics concerning today's society, including keeping safe online, being street-smart, and raising awareness of the dangers of drugs and alcohol abuse and knife crime. Army soldiers answered students’ questions and demonstrated their gears. Also, our students had a first-hand experience of what it is like to work for the national ambulance service as first aider, paramedic and first response officer.

In total: 7 different events in school, 502 students enjoyed three separate educational trips to the Science Museum in Central London, Hampton Court and the Globe Theatre. Additionally, 40 external visitors who contributed to our students' wider learning and 26 different activities that enriched pupils' horizons and possible career aims in the future.

By developing these skills and wider learning, Barnhill is dedicated in educating its students in preparation for life experiences and possible challenges they might face.

Thank you to all Barnhill staff and the external visitors who came to our school, making it such a superb experience for all of us. Our students were given a wonderful cultural experience and enrichment that will help them to navigate and contribute to wider society. Needless to say that it was a fantastic way to wrap up a very challenging year for all of us.
