Dear Parents, Carers and Year 11 Students,

To support all Year 11 students as they move into either the Sixth Form, college, apprenticeship or employment in September, we are putting in place a range of experiences and classes in school from Monday 7th June onwards once the final GCSE assessments have concluded. The transition arrangements will end on Friday 18th June at which point standard GCSE exams would normally have concluded. In addition to the outline below; summer reading and additional transition tasks will be set after 18th June for all students via Microsoft Teams.

SIXTH FORM APPLICANTS: Students who applied to and provisionally accepted into the Sixth Form (pending final GCSE results) will be added to a ‘Sixth Form’ Microsoft Team through which they will receive important information now and over the summer in the lead-up to Results Day and final enrolment. After an initial Transition Assembly on Monday 7th June, students will attend their Sixth Form subject lessons which they have provisionally been accepted to study for a fortnight. Subject teachers will also establish subject Teams to relay important transition materials to aid preparations for Sixth Form studies in September.

OTHER YEAR 11 STUDENTS: Students who have not applied or have not been accepted into the Sixth Form will receive a Transition Assembly online with Mr. Clyne and then attend school for a range of Maths, English and Science booster classes alongside PE and Sport. These students will be retained on the existing Year 11 Microsoft Team through which they will also receive links to additional online courses to complement the Core Subject provision in study skills, apprenticeship and employment readiness.

PLEASE NOTE: All students will be permitted to attend for their timetabled lessons only and should dress in accordance with the Sixth Form dress code at all times. Timetables will shortly be available to view through your Go For Schools account. Please email Mr. Clyne, Head of Year 11, if you can not access your Go For Schools account: cclyne@barnhill.school

Yours sincerely

Mr. T. Rich
