Gifted & Talented
The Gifted and Talented programme is aimed at supporting and encouraging those students who show particular enthusiasm or ability in either a certain subject, or across the whole curriculum. The programme provides students with exposure to examples of cultural, intellectual, sporting and artistic excellence.
This year has seen our gifted and talented students take part in a variety of workshops, projects and challenges. These included:
- Maths Challenge
- Enterprise Project
- Public Speaking
- Chess Competitions
- Master Classes
- Various 1 day sessions at local universities
- Brunel Gifted and Talented programme
All the above activities have helped to create a broad, balanced and challenging curriculum.
Gifted and talented students are able to take some GCSEs early. For some this starts in Year 9, and for others in Year 10. They can then take further options in Years 10 and 11 including A Level courses.
Our recent Cambridge undergraduate came through our Gifted and Talented programme and many others have been successful at GCSE, A Level and University.
Ofsted commented: “There is a well thought out and comprehensive programme catering for gifted and talented students, which is held in high regard by the students involved”.
