What you are doing now: At the University of York studying BSc Economics and on track for a 1st class honours degree. Currently I am in my 2nd year and I have been a very active member of the student community here. I have been elected as the President of The University of York Economics Society which is one of the largest societies on campus. I am also the Director of Finance at the York Finance Conference, Student Ambassador for the Department of Economics and Related Studies, Module Representative for 2 years running and work as an Analyst for The Market Mogul. I have also been offered the opportunity to join a Chinese University in Beijing to study abroad and learn Mandarin.
My future: With regards to my career I am working towards entering the world of Finance, ideally within the Wealth Management sector. Being an active member of the student community has helped me prepare to enter such a fast paced industry where I will be working with a wide range of people, thus I would highly recommend getting involved. Not only does it separate you from your competitors, it also is a very enjoyable experience!
Advice to Barnhill Pupils: Don't be afraid to get involved! Join societies and meet new people, as cliche as this sounds, you'll get the best experience that way. Ask students in older years for advice, I’m sure they would be more than happy to help. It is very easy to isolate yourself at university so make the most of the 3 years you have by coming out of your comfort zone and experiencing new things! Be confident and most of all don’t be afraid to be yourself!
